Beata was a young refugee who was traveling with the gnome jeweler Percival and the dwarf Zoltan.

Biography

Traveling with the White Wolf

Beata, with a woman, a young man, and the parrot Field Marshal Windbag, rides in the wagon led by Zoltan and Percival. Their party soon runs into Geralt's party, who are offered to follow Zoltan and his party, but Jaskier initially rejects it in favor of Geralt, but recedes it after Zoltan says his side has food.

The two parties camp out for the night at an undisclosed location in the forest, and the following morning, they venture forth, finding a house that smells of porridge and has its own cow. Initially, the party wanted to steal the cow and the porridge inside, but a young lady emerged from the house screaming that the place is infected with pox. Now knowing this, the party flees to a safe distance and witnesses a group of bandits try to assault the young lady sexually. Still, Geralt and his companion Milva prevent this.

Once all of the bandits were dealt with, the group journeys forth.[1]

Resting in the graveyard

Beat cautiously watches as Geralt and the party interact with a couple of would-be bandits and later stays with Percy outside of the haunted graveyard as Geralt, Jaskier, Zoltan, and Milva investigate it.

Once it was cleared of any danger, and Regis offered the party shelter to stay for the night. She sleeps outside in the wagon and is tucked in by Milva, who asks the woman there to watch over her throughout the night.

The following day, Beata and the rest of the party journey forth with Regis now a part of their party.[2]

Trial by ordeal

Closing in on a refugee camp where several people had been run out of their homes by the Nilfgaardian Army, Beata hoped that she'd find her family there, which she gleefully told Geralt. Upon arriving at the refugee camp, Beata spoke to an older man there who pointed in the direction of where her family may be and found her sister Talver on trial for witchcraft. Beata immediately rushed to her sister and was accused of being a witch as well for being Talver's sister.

Geralt and his company would argue in both Beata and Talver's defense, but the rogue priest who headed the trial used every trick in his book to ensure that the two sisters were found guilty of witchcraft. Thankfully, though, Geralt and his company successfully argue and outwit the priest until the Nilfgaardian Army arrive and slaughter any refugee who comes within their swords' reach.

Rescuing Beata and Talver, Geralt follows the two back to the wagon, where a Nilfgaard soldier slashes Beata, and although Geralt tells Beata she'll be alright, she dies in his arms.[3]
