Bruno Messmer was a merchant and explorer active during the early 1270s.

Biography

By the early 1270s, stories of the ruined castle of Gwydberg continued to attract adventurers, treasure seekers, and scholars. Intrigued by rumors surrounding the abandoned fortress and the mysteries of the Holy Sycamore, Messmer organized an expedition to investigate the site.

Bruno Messmer's expedition reached Gwydberg Castle at approximately the same time as a separate party led by Kala of Gwydberg, a noblewoman seeking to reclaim her family's ancestral seat.

Unlike Kala's mission, which was driven by dynastic concerns, Messmer's expedition focused on exploration and discovery. His companions searched the ruins for evidence of the events that had destroyed the sanctuary decades earlier and sought to uncover the truth behind the legends surrounding the mountain of Ard Gwyd.

Their investigations led to a remarkable revelation. Members of Messmer's party discovered that the Holy Sycamore, long worshipped as a sacred symbol of Morrigan, was in fact a prison created to contain an otherworldly entity that had been trapped beneath it for millennia.

Depending on the outcome of the events at Gwydberg, the castle either remained abandoned, came under the control of Kala of Gwydberg or Iola of Gwydberg, or became the possession of Messmer's followers and associates.[1]
