East March was a part of Kovir which included Malleore, Barefield, Caingorn, and Arcsea. With the secession of Poviss and subsequent coup d'état, Kovir lost control of it and while they were able to regain some of their former lands over the years, they never regained East March.
The region changed hands a few times until finally becoming Hengfors League with some border changes.
