Galanthea, otherwise known by her stage name Snowdrop, was minstrel, bard, and associate of the infamous mage Alzur.
Biography
Journeys on the path
Galanthea used to travel with a group of fellow artisans, actors, and bards, roaming the countryside estates, taverns, brothels, performing for whoever had enough coin for entertainment. One morning, after a drunken party the night before, the group was enveloped in a deep fog. From the mist, a horde of sirens attacked the caravan.
Galanthea quickly hide underneath a wagon, where she could only listen as everyone she had ever known was slaughtered by the sirens. One of the creatures came close to discovering her hiding place, but was driven away by lightning cast by Alzur. He then proceeded to kill the remaining members of the swarm, much to her relief.[1]
Cursed
Galanthea would somehow later come to be cursed to only speak in songs, rhymes, and ballads. At first, she viewed this as a blessing as the curse uplifted her, "middling melodies into enchanting chansons."[1] However, she quickly discovered that if she said anything, Galanthea would sprout a song or poem to accompany it. After a particularly embarrassing incident involving her asking where the bathroom was at a funeral, Galanthea resolved to find a cure to her curse.
While searching for someone that could cure her, Galanthea stumbled across a town hosting the infamous Vigilante group, an organization known for thier witch hunts. There she witnessed the events that lead to the capture and burning of the local ¨witch¨. Galanthea reported her experiences to a traveling dwimveandra, Alissa Henson who was seeking to find the source of recent anti-mage prejudice. After traveling together for a day, they went thier separate ways with Galanthea giving that leader of the group's name; Hale.[2]
After months of travel, she again came across Alzur staying at the same inn as her. She begged him to help find a cure, but the mage promptly refused stating, "let some other poor wretch waste his time on curious cases of delusion".[1]However Galanthea wouldn't give up so easily and after three days of non-stop ballads, lullabies, poems Alzur finally relented, promising to help her if she vowed to keep her mouth shut.
Alzur's medallion
While Galanthea and Alzur traveled to the town where she was cursed, they often slept at inns and taverns along the way. On one of such stops, Galanthea decided to look through Alzur's things while the mage was out drinking. Among his belongings was a lily medallion, which she slung around her neck right as Alzur came back.
