The seven gnomes operated a mine in the Mahakam Mountains. One day, they were approached by a woman named Shrike. She convinced them that it would be more profitable to rob merchants than to work in the mine. The group went on to terrorize the whole of Mahakam, amassing a large treasure, until one fateful day.
The reason for what happened next isn't clear — it could have been about dividing the loot or deciding which of them would spend the night with Shrike — but whatever the reason, an argument broke out among the gnomes and they attacked each other with knives. Shrike was the only one to walk away alive.[1]
