Final Exam is the tutorial quest in The Witcher: Monster Slayer and starts as soon as you enter the game.
Walkthrough
The Master Witcher is waiting for you, and as soon you tap on him he will tell you about your final exam. Before you start he asks if you want to practice or if you are ready to take the exam. It would be smart to practice if it is your first time, but practice is always available in the main menu as well later on if you decide to skip it.
Practice (optional step)
If you decide to practice you get a step by step tutorial with a training dummy. This is pretty straight forward where you learn fast attack, heavy attack, parry, bombs, and signs.
Battling the devourer
When you decided you are ready for your final exam, you will have to battle a devourer. These creatures are 1 skull creatures and therefor pretty strong for beginners. Fortunately as a tutorial you get the much needed bombs, oils, and potions to win this battle with relative ease. Don't worry if you mess up as you can battle this enemy again and again until you succeed!
Journal entry
- WHEN THE DEVOURER WAS STRUCK DOWN WITH A SKILLFUL BLOW OF A SHARP BLADE, THE MATTER WAS CLEAR: THE WITCHER HAD PASSED THE EXAM.
- THE MASTER NODDED IN RECOGNITION AND HANDED A WOLF SCHOOL MEDALLION AND AN INWROUGHT BESTIARY TO THE YOUNG WITCHER, WISHING THAT THEY'D SERVE HIM WELL ON THE PATH.
- At last, the time had come for me to take the final exam. Years of training paid off-the devourer fell dead at my feet. As proof of passing the exam, Master Witcher handed me a Wolf School medallion and an inwrought bestiary. I now set off on the Path as a full- fledged monster slayer.
