Rockstride was a troll who lived in the Pontaria/Riverside region with his wife. He encountered Geralt of Rivia on two separate occasions—once with Addario Bach and another time with Ciri.
Biography
One day, Rockstride was thrown out by his wife because he had been ogling Dryads, She-Elves, or other tree-deities. While wandering, he decided to hunt a boar. Unfortunately for him, the boar was already killed by the Witcher Geralt and his companion, Addario. Rockstride explained to the pair that he had been kicked out and was hunting the boar the night before. He proposed a trade: a piece of the boar in exchange for a barrel of vodka. The pair agreed, but before they could cut a piece for him, the troll simply took a bite out of the carcass and walked off to sleep.[1]
Years later, Rockstride found himself in trouble with his wife once again. To cheer her up, he had captured a woman, Jayne, in his net, planning to bring her home so she could dance for him and his wife. However, Geralt suddenly appeared on the road before him. Rockstride recognized the witcher, calling him "vodka 'uman." This time, it was Geralt who proposed a trade: a bottle of spirits in exchange for the woman. Geralt reasoned that Rockstride's wife would not appreciate him bringing a woman home. Rockstride agreed to the trade and then set off for a walk, wishing not to be disturbed.[2]
