Rodolf Kazmer was a dwarven salesman dealing in weapons and armors.
Biography
Rodolf fought during 1262-1263 within the Temerian Army during the First Northern War as a scout in a regiment. When he had been sent to the Sodden swamp to hold a position against a Nilfgaardian detachment with his unit, the humidity ruined his crossbow and the string went slack right in the middle of the battlefield. However, a bowmaker named Klaus rigged up a new string for his crossbow in no time. He later took part in the First Battle of Sodden, during which he found himself in hand-to-hand combat with a Nilfgaardian who broke six of his ribs, but he managed to kill him with a dagger. During an assault against Nilfgaardian archers, Aldi, one of the Temerian scouts in Rodolf's regiment, got a wide cut in his thigh. The rest of the detachment dealt with the archers, but Aldi was holding his leg and his blood was gushing everywhere. Rodolf put a tourniquet on him, but it didn’t stop the bleeding. It was one of the other Temerian scouts who narrowly saved Aldi’s life with some coagulation powder.
He spent some time working as a blacksmith in Angren before the Second Northern War, a job he considered not very easy. Then he spent a few years in Mahakam where he mingled with the gnomes Goldenring and Morrison, who were experts in blade sharpening.
During the Second Northern War (1267-1268) he fought as an arbalist in a Temerian crossbow regiment that was assisted by another regiment of pikemen to protect them from enemy cavalry. Additionally, he took part in the Battle of Brenna. During a fight, while he was standing right near a Nilfgaardian knight charging straight at him, he took down his horse with a crossbow bolt but didn't have time to load another one and had to beat him to death with his weapon. It has also seen a Nilfgaardian colossus decapitate a galloping horse with a strike from Torrwr.
After the Second Northern War, he went to Maribor to fill his thoughts and run with the riffraff for several months. At some point, he met Vernon Roche and Jan Natalis, whom he deeply admires. Rodolf also met an elf assassin who, according to him, carried sixteen knives on her, and he has already traveled with a surgeon from Nilfgaard. At Mag Turga, he met a priest who was unusually tolerant and he also traveled with a young magician.
He met Zoltan Chivay a few years after the Second Northern War, one day when they had a few drinks and shared soldier stories.
When the Third Northern War started, Rudolf started traveling through the front supplying folks in need with war salvage or information at a reasonable price. This work allowed him to travel the whole Continent: according to him, he scouted the back roads of Mahakam, sailed the sea, and even traveled with a witcher for a while. Recently he started having a romantic relationship with a magician. He makes a few trips each month from Mahakam to Vizima and Ellander.[1]
