Varin was the sword instructor at Kaer Morhen, known for his strict teaching methods. He was killed during the attack on the keep.[1]
Biography
Varin conducted his lessons in the Bastion, a smaller structure located in the Morhen Valley. A harsh and demanding instructor, he believed that training should never stop, not even for injuries such as bleeding.
At one point, Varin discovered a diagram left by the legendary witcher Elgar and was impressed by its craftsmanship. Recognizing its potential, he decided that every student at the school should train using equipment forged from Elgar's designs. To this end, he enlisted the help of the keep's resident mage and the mage's assistant, Chird, to work on reproducing the diagrams.
However, before the new gear could be forged, Kaer Morhen was besieged by a peasant mob, supported by mages. During the attack, Varin was in the Bastion, where he managed to instruct at least one student to hide. Tragically, his efforts were in vain, as the mob also targeted the Bastion, killing both Varin and the student he sought to protect.[1]
